Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) received a visit from the ASEAN University Network (AUN) in conjunction with the review of the ASEAN University Network (AUN-QA) Assessment for the School of International Studies (SoIS) at the Senate Meeting Room, this morning.
Dean of SoIS, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani said the discussion was aimed at reviewing the Bachelor of International Affairs Management with Honours (BIAM) programme.
"On 18 October 2013, SOIS received AUN-QA Certification for its Bachelor of International Affairs Management with Honours (BIAM) programme.
"However, the certification period expired on 17 October and it has to go through the AUN-QA Re-certification process as set by the AUN-QA Secretariat which commences from 12 to 14 March. Therefore, an AUN-QA Committee at the SOIS level has been established," he said.
Meanwhile, the Chief Auditor, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ornsiri Cheunsuang said AUN-QA was part of the ASEAN University Network (AUN) which focused on aspects of academic quality assurance in the form of ASEAN regional cooperation.
She attributed AUN-QA to an important regional platform for development in the aspect of academic quality.
Also present were fellow AUN-QA Auditors, Dr. Clarita Carillo and AUN Secretariat, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nantana Gajaseni and Piyapat Kultanan.
