1. What is ISO?

The International Standards Organization (ISO) is a worldwide non-governmental organization, with a membership of more than 140 countries founded since 1947. With the mission to uphold the development in standardisation and other activities related with the desire to assist international commercialisation and support global collaboration in the field of knowledge, technology, and economics. ISO core activity is to generate international agreements and later published as international standards.

INNOVATIVE AND CREATIVE CIRCLE (ICC)

1.  What is ICC?

ICC is a small group of employees assigned to identify problems, analyse, propose and later implement the proposal upon approval from the management. 

·         Participation is open to all departments
·        Comprises of employee from various position
·         Emphasis on the aspects of innovation and creativity, besides problem solving
·         Variation of problem solving techniques
·         Generate creative ideas implementation and process improvement strategies

2. What is innovation?

Innovation is a method to find solution either by modification or by improvements in producing better products or services. Creative and innovative ideas in any work aspects will improve the organization’s quality and productivity. These ideas comprises of changes in systems and procedures, methods and working procedures as well as introduction of technologies.

3. What is creativity?

Creativity is the ability or capability to invent, create and produce novelty with imagination.
Creativity involves:
♦ Ability to think and produce new unique and interesting ideas
♦ Ability to think critically and assess ideas analytically before presenting the proposed solution
♦ Ability to think practically and interpret ideas and theories for application

4. What are the approaches and principles of ICC?

Approaches and principles of ICC:
♦ ICC is a team of employees consisting of 4 – 10 members representing the same organization or cross function
♦ ICC will have meeting on regular basis to solve problems at work, improve the existing standard, or develop new working procedures or services
♦ The team will identify, indicate, analyse and later elicit creative and innovative ideas concerning particular issues or matters related to work or the organization
♦ The team also offers proposals to the management for consideration and decision making
♦ ICC will execute the agreed decision
♦ ICC will observe and evaluate the project execution
♦ ICC take measures in standardizing and broaden the project implementation

5. What are the philosophies of ICC?

ICC philosophies are as below:
♦ Humanity management concept emphasizes on the human capital as the most essential asset in an organization
♦ Participative management is a concept where employees regardless of their position in the organization are given the opportunity to contribute meaningfully
♦ Mechanism involving employees in problem solving process or improve existing working procedures and standards or invent something new
♦ Instil knowledge-based concept and creativity-driven to enable the organization to produce added value innovation to the products or services
♦ Focuses on ideas, learning, knowledge sharing and value creation through identification and problem solving, analysing techniques and generating new creative and innovative ideas
♦ The end product of KIK led to the generation of quality output which can be optimised significantly and widely. Thus, ICC’s impact and contribution towards the growth and strengthening of country’s economy will be more effective.
